Simulator

The committee has decided to proceed with ordering a GS2 flight simulator from Navboys. After a thorough demonstration on the weekend, and in consultation with the CFI, we are confident that the GS2 will be a fantastic addition to our training resources.

The GS2 is a high-quality, realistic glider simulator that provides an immersive flying experience. With its precise controls, adjustable settings and lifelike graphics, the simulator is designed to replicate real-world flight conditions. This will make it an invaluable tool for pilot development, offering a safe and controlled environment to practice manoeuvres, refine skills and improve decision-making.

In addition to its use as a development tool, the GS2 will be an essential aid in instructor training. The ability to practice patter, simulate various scenarios, weather conditions and emergency procedures will allow trainee instructors to enhance their teaching methods and provide students with a broader range of training experiences.

Of course, it’s not just about training! The GS2 also offers a fun and engaging experience, giving members the opportunity to enjoy realistic flying simulations, whether for recreation or a friendly competition. It’s a great way to practice skills like side slipping or spinning before getting back in the glider to do it for real. Alternatively, it’s perfect for staying current when the weather outside isn’t ideal for flying!

We are aware that the timing of this purchase coincides with the ongoing challenges faced with the Pawnee, and we have carefully considered the situation. After evaluating the needs of the club, we believe that moving forward with the simulator purchase remains appropriate. The GS2 will not only complement our existing resources but also provide a valuable alternative training tool, ensuring that our members and instructors continue to have access to high-quality, effective training options during any downtime with the Pawnee and through winter months in future years.

We are excited about the potential this simulator has to offer for both training and enjoyment, and we look forward to seeing it in action. Stay tuned for updates on when the simulator will be available for use!
